OSHA Two Hour Asbestos Awareness Training

What is it?

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) two-hour Asbestos Awareness training has been customized by BuildSafe Environmental Consulting to meet the needs of the Restoration and Construction Industry. This two-hour presentation and the discussion-based course will give participants the ability to recognize potentially hazardous work activities where ACM may be accidentally disturbed and implement safety protections accordingly.

 Key Topics Include:

  • Background Information about Rules and Regulations regarding asbestos
  • Exposure and Health Effects
  • Worker Protection Programs
  • Identifying Suspect Building Materials
  • Assessing Material Conditions and Recognizing Potential Spills

This Asbestos Awareness Course is an EPA-based training that covers Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) asbestos awareness and is modeled after the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) of 1986 and will help you and your team to understand the background, health effects, and regulations regarding asbestos. With this course, your attending team will be given a BuildSafe Certificate showing that they have attended this EPA level course.

Why is this training necessary?

This industry is tough. Attracting and retaining talented staff, building up your customer base, creating a successful image, and retaining positive reviews of your company are even tougher. Not only are there countless job-specific skills and customer service needs for your types of work, but there are also many layers of laws and regulations that are related to restoration, remodel, and real estate jobs that compound the difficulty of each project. Taking the time to protect all of your investments, and investing in valuable commodities, especially in the skills of your team will pay off as much, if not more than any other type of expense. We understand that a well-trained employee is not only more productive but feels valued and is more likely to stay with a company that invests in its advancement. Just as important as the human resource aspect of training, the savings in damages, change orders, repairs, fines, and lawsuits are monumental in comparison to the small costs of training like ours. With our class, your team will have a greater ability to deal with the preventative measures and work practices needed to protect themselves, your customers, and others in the community from unnecessary exposure to airborne asbestos fibers. Work stoppages and potential fines from OSHA, EPA, and CDPHE are obvious examples of things all contractors, homeowners, and managers want to avoid. Proper testing goes hand in hand with further training on why BuildSafe is there to test, and why they should take further steps to ensure a hassle-free job and profitable projects for all.

Who needs this training?

Restoration contractors (i.e., project managers, estimators, and technicians), property managers, carpet cleaning contractors, insurance adjusters, real estate agents, and brokers.

Note: OSHA requires employers to institute and ensure participation in a worker training program for employees exposed to fiber levels at or above the permissible exposure limit.
